I have been practicing Yoga, Energy work, and Meditation for over ten years. Since the age of 13 I have been interested in the connection between the body, the mind, and the spirit. In my experience, Yoga is an art. First you work on the form of the gross body, developing strength and flexibility, purifying the internal organs, toning the pelvic floor, and developing a useful daily routine. Once you have become proficient in form and alignment, you will want to begin focusing on balance and meditation in the postures. With the asana practice you will reduce the rajasic (hyperactive) qualities of your mind and aid in tranquilizing the mind. When prepared you will begin pranayama(breath control) practice that will create length in the breath and reduce the tamasic (dull,heavy) qualities of your mind. Once the body is balanced you can begin sitting and focusing on a gross object. You will learn to withdraw the sense into the mind, withdraw the mind into the object, sustain a unbroken connection, and absorb completely into that. Through Yoga you will gain clarity and subtle awareness of the inner and outer space. The more intense you are in your practice the quicker you will experience true meditation and tranquility of the mind. Your heart will open, your ego will soften, and you will become less attached to your senses and desires. The goal of Yoga awaken your true nature. Yoga can help you reduce stress by giving you the strength to eliminate useless habits and give you the intelligence to develop a focused and discriminative mind..

I am a 15 year Yoga practitioner. I have studied the physical, spiritual, and therapeutic aspects of the practice in depth through self experimentation and guided study with some of todays present masters of the art. I am presently learning Sanskrit in order to better understand the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Bhagavad Gita, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and other authoritative Yoga texts. I have studied Anatomy, Kinesiology, Pathology, Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for adolescents, Vedic chanting and have been certified to instruct others in this practice by Yoga Sutra, one of the leading schools for continued yogic studies. I take lots of different workshops, attend all types of discourses, and read all types of books to prevent myself from getting stuck in a box. I have studied in Amritapuri India with my Guru Mata Amritanandamayi Devi aka Amma and through her good grace I continue to expand and open my heart to embrace all of humanity in a grip of eternal compassion.

This interview is also an opportunity for you to express your goals and desires. Based on my assessment, I will determine which asanas, breathing practices and meditation techniques to lead you through.

A good personalized Yoga session depends on uninhibited communication between the student and teacher. You will find that I frequently asks what you are experiencing throughout the class. These questions serve a dual purpose. Not only will the answers help to determine what should come next, but they serve to remind you to always be listening to and obeying your body's needs. Yoga can be hard work both physically and mentally. Therefore, patience and sensitivity set the pace for progress.

As you may have noticed, if you want to take a Yoga class, there are numerous styles to choose from. From trendy to traditional, there seem to be classes for every body type and personality.

What you may not know is that the whole concept of a Yoga "class" is relatively new as compared to the history of the practice. For centuries Yoga was not taught in group classes, but as a one-on-one practice. The reason you see so many styles of Yoga classes is that there are so many types of people, all with different proficiency levels. And as our bodies and minds develop and change over time (at different rates!), each person's Yoga practice needs to respond to those changes to remain effective.

Energy Healing

Description
Energy healing is done by sending prana (the "universal life force") from the practitioner’s body to diseased or affected parts of another person’s body. The force stimulates cells and tissues, restores normal activity, and allows waste material to leave the system. It involves the use of passes and the laying on of hands.

The prana is a vital physical force that exists universally, which underlies all physical actions of the body. It causes the circulation of the blood, movement of cells, and all motions which life of the body depends. It is a force sent forth from the nervous system by an effort of the will to direct healing.

The individual receives prana from the food eaten, water drank, and air breathed. All force or energy received comes from one primal source, and everyone can increase their supply and give it as a "gift" to others through healing. By the act of living each receives this gift and therefore can freely share it with others.
