Shelley Lambert

I first entered the Dojang in 1982 and fell in love with the art of Tae Kwon Do. Being one of a few girls in class, I trained hard to earn respect. I went on to attain Gold, Silver, and Bronze in Maryland State and various local competitions. In 1990, I earned 1st Degree Black Belt under Grandmaster Han Young Kim, 2nd Degree in 1998 under Grandmaster Han Young Kim and Master Chang Hun Yi, and 3rd Degree in 2007 under Grandmaster Dr. Rocky Farley. It was in 2007 that I decided to use my skill to help women, especially. I have friends who had fallen victim to rape and abuse. I wanted to help them, as well as every woman in their situation, never become a victim again, and help others never have to know what it's like to be one. I know that no program is fail proof, but I believe if a woman learns to be more aware of her surroundings, is empowered with a greater sense of confidence, and is secure in her response to a situation, her chance of becoming a victim is greatly reduced. This is so important to me that I do not charge a fee for local small group classes. I only ask for donations which in turn helps me reach more women regardless of their financial situation.
