Tariq S. Al-Sabir (16) is a Singer/Composer/Pianist out of Baltimore, Maryland. Tariq has been described as a "Prolific Composer" by the Peabody Magazine and the Baltimore Examiner dubbed him "a rising musical mastermind." Tariq sings and writes all styles of music including Gospel, Classical, Jazz, Pop and Musical Theater.
Tariq has been writing music and performing ever since the 3rd grade. Tariq's first complete piece "Carry On" was premiered by the Peabody Conservatory in his 6th grade year. Since then he has had 5 pieces performed by the Peabody Conservatory. In 7th grade he auditioned and became a part of the Booker T Washington Boy's Choir, which changed to Kids L.E.A.D, directed by his now musical mentor Tony Small. His mentee travels with Award winning composer and musician Tony Small has taken him all across the country to experience music at a professional level. Also in 06, through Tony Small, he was featured as one of the lead vocalists on the theme song for HBO's "The Wire"

His other accomplishments include the 2006 Centerstage Young Playwrights Award with his musical, ÔÇťAnother Man's Treasure", the 2008 NIYC Gospel fest Awards, the Baltimore Choral Arts 2009 Student Composer Project Award with his peice, "With Open Wings", The 2009 Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, "Oh Say Can you Sing" competition. He has shared the stage with artists such as: Kishna Davis, Dejuana Small, Rance Allen, Sandy Patti, Andy Williams, Maurette Brown Clark, etc.
Tariq currently studies voice with Lauretta Young and Robert Cantrell, composition with Judah Adashi, jazz improv with Corey Wallace and is leader of the Baltimore based group R.E.A.D.Y.
