My name is Jennifer (I go by Jenn) Koopmans. I am married to David. We have 3 children-Benjamin, Shanndon and Christianna. Before having my own children, I went to college for Early Childhood Education and Infant/Toddler Care. Besides having 8 siblings and babysitting numerous friends and family over the years, I have worked in childcare centers, as well as home daycares. I did my internship in a Department of Defense School Kindergarten classroom in California. David and I married in August 1998. Since 1999, I have been a stay at home mom. We are a loving, happy, Christian family. We home school our children. My husband is in the Air Force and works “swing shift” (2pm-10pm). I have always wanted to do in home child care, but since 2001, my husband was deployed 6-8 months a year and I did not feel it was possible to attend training, home school, keep up with house and children and run a day care. Now, my husband has switched jobs within the Air Force and his job is done here at McConnell AFB and he’s no longer deploying, which allows me to tend to things I need to do in his off time while he takes care of the children. I decided I wanted to run a “swing shift” day care, that way, I can “go to work” at the same time my husband does and we still have mornings as a family and do things we need to do, like family time, doctor appointments and community activities. My hope is that it will serve a need in the community for those that work the odd hours. We attend church every Sunday and Wednesdays. I teach 3rd-5th grade girls on Wednesday nights. I am certified in CPR, first aid, food handling, child abuse recognition, medication administration, fire safety, and nutrition and much more.
