Bio
I have chosen childcare for my work now after having been a secretary for most of my life. I cared for my two daughters until they were grown; I cared for my mother until her death at 92; I cared for several high powered company directors - nothing has been as rewarding as caring for the children in my home. Hugs, funny stories, lots of learning for all of us. I am so glad I didn't think I was too old for this job. It is a joy!

Profile Summary:
Small family day care Richmond, VA
More About Me
My husband and I are both bird watchers. The bird feeders in our yard are delightful, and our birding trips are always fun. We often camp and hike in Virginia's beautiful state parks and also travel to other state's parks. We are planning our Texas trip right now.
Work Experience:
I am the oldest of a large family. My youngest brothers are 10 and 12 years younger than me and as the oldest girl, I was often the care provider. I began babysitting outside the home at 12. I had my own 2 children at 22 and 23 years old.
When the youngest started kindergarten, I started working as a secretary part time in a clinic in downtown Boston. In the Boston area I had several other secretarial jobs, the last one at the Cambridge Housing Authority. I moved to Richmond as my youngest started college because of my husband's job. My mother,3 brothers and eldest daughter also moved to Virginia within the first year we were here. I worked as a secretary for 11 years at Housing Opportunities Made Equal in Richmond until I needed to stay home to care for my mother.
