We are the military branch of the U.S. Coast Guard. We conduct safety patrols and search and rescue missions in Hernando County, FL, assist the Coast Guard with homeland security duties, teach boating safety classes, conduct free vessel safety checks for the public as well as many other activities. We are seeking those individuals who want to contribute their talents in the areas of web design, information technology, public affairs, and in many other administrative roles.


NAVIGATING WITH GPS (Global Positioning System) – will be presented on Oct. 18 from 9:00am-noon. Fee is $35 which includes text on use of a GPS
HOW TO READ A NAUTICAL CHART will be presented on Nov. 8 from 9:00am-noon. Fee is $35. Subjects include types of charts, capabilities and limitations of charts, interpretation of symbols and how to select a chart for your use. AMERICA’S BOATING COURSE will be presented on Nov. 11, 12 and 13th from 7-9:30pm Fee is $30 which includes text. This is a basic but very informative three-night course and includes all information to qualify for the Florida Boating Safety ID card. Whether you’re new to boating or have been boating for years you will leave this course with a lot of great information. All courses are taught at the Coast Guard Auxiliary bldg, located at 4340 Calienta St (corner Calienta and Shoal Line), Hernando Beach. Call John at 352-573-8155 for any further information on the above courses. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers free Vessel Safety Checks all year long.
