Kevin Hogle plays with the band 500 Miles to Memphis, from Cincinnati, Ohio. Kevin started playing drums around the age of 11. He wanted to join school band and drums were the first instrument that caught his attention. He received his first drumset in 7th grade and started learning songs from bands that he listened to like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Iron Maiden.
When Kevin graduated high school, he wanted to take his love for drumming to the next level. In the fall of 1995, he went to Morehead State University in Morehead, KY where he studied under professors Frank Oddis, Todd Wright and Greg Strouse. At Morehead, Kevin performed and studied orchestra, marching percussion, and many different styles of music from Jazz to Rock and had the opportunity to perform in Beijing, China at the Central Conservatory of Music and at Beijing Concert Hall. He graduated MSU in 2001, with his Bachelors’ Degree in Music Education, and has committed himself to giving private instruction in his spare time to beginners all the way up to advanced students.
Some of Kevin’s influences derive from drummer’s styles of Peter Erskine, Dave Weckyl, Steve Gadd, John Bonham, Stewart Copeland, Josh Freese, Dennis Chambers, and many others. “All these artists’ styles are so unique it has led me to my personal style in 500 Miles to Memphis.”
Having Joined 500 Miles to Memphis has led him to tour and record with the finest Alt-Country/Punk bands in the country. 500 Mile to Memphis are committed to continually challenge themselves musically and creatively—writing/composing, recording new songs that (hopefully) attract new audiences while still being meaningful to our fans that have been with us from the start. 500 Miles to Memphis tours heavily with about 200-300 dates a year so that they can connect and have the opportunity to meet the fans in person.
