Description
My beginnings come from my father who taught and fought Boxing in the Army, when Men were Men and disputes were handled by who the toughest Man was through physical and mental Combat vs. the Chicken S--T way punks handle confrontation Today, by pulling triggers or using a blade.
My introduction to pugilism was through Boxing and migrated to the Martial Arts.
My perspective of the two is this, both have their advantages and disadvantages, however for me it was more effective training through the Martial Arts in that I actually learned Technique while keeping my Gray Matter In Tact.
It is just matter of fact. In Boxing your Head is the Main Target and it takes plenty of abuse during sparring sessions. This abuse differs in magnitude determined by whose Ego you may be up against any particular time. Where as in the Martial Arts, your Entire Body is a Target and the amount of Contact is Controlled for Obvious Reasons. You learn how to annialate, and if in the process you actually carried out those techniques with full power, you would Quickly Run Out of Bodies to Practice On.
