Bio
About three decades ago, I walked into a job interview at a national TV network in the U.K. I was 24, scared stiff and not confident at interviews. A producer, bored with a long day of candidates, didn't look up and asked, "what do you do?" I froze, my mind when blank and I heard my voice say, "I do words." An hour later I was offered the job. I won't say it was the best interview answer I have ever given but it remains the most precise.
I have led a charmed life starting as a cub reporter on a big city newspaper in England, moving to a national television network by the age of 24 and becoming a freelance sports producer/director three years later. My sports production work meant that I traveled the world on someone else's dime for seven years before settling in Atlanta, Ga.
I worked Wimbledon, the SuperBowl, The Masters, Formula One racing and the NBA for many major networks. Along the way I produced a snooker tournament in Dubai and wrote television features for The Sunday Times of London.
In Atlanta, I worked for CNN.com for five years, opened and art gallery and built banqueting facilities and ran special events for the Tutankhamun exhibition. I am currently developing a web site for those with bipolar disorder and their families, teach creative writing workshops and am working on my second book.
