Sewing may be part of my genetic make-up -- my mother sews and my grandmothers were seamstresses and worked without patterns. As a child, I loved going to the fabric store with my mom and admiring the many colors and textures of fabric. Eventually I landed in 4-H and took my first steps to becoming a textile artist and seamstress.

After sewing for myself for over 10 years, I left my graphic design career to pursue fashion design and textile artistry exclusively.

I work with a variety of fibers and textiles, focusing mainly on custom items for the home, and unique women's fashion (jackets are my favorite).

After spending most of my adult life in the big U.S. cities, I've recently returned to my home state of Utah to be near family. I'm married and have a young son.

4-H catapulted me into loving sewing and fashion. I remember learning basic sewing skills under the patient and caring eye of our leader and later entering my precious projects in contests and modeling my own work in front of hundreds of people.

My work has evolved since then and been influenced by my graphic design background and friends from around the country.

I enjoy creating unique and personal clothing (jackets and coats are my favorite) embellished with a variety of mediums.

Personal attention, personal touch, design finesse and impeccable workmanship applies to all my work, whether home decor, doll clothes or fashion design.

Teaparty Enthusiast

Category: Event / Party Planning
Ever been to a teaparty? They are awesome... Invite a unique, hand-selected group of women (or men, couples or kids)... Add a fun and inspiring theme... Make some yummy food... Serve, chat, pour, stir and enjoy!...

I'm not into history of tea or tea leaf reading or anything like that. And I can't tell you about a lot of kinds of teas. I have my favorites and that's what I use. My addiction to teaparties is purely social and creative in nature.

The theme is what makes the planning fun... Themes from my past include "Chinese New Year" (served authentic Chinese cuisine), "St. Patrick's Day" (all the food was green or Irish in nature), "Planting the Seeds of Friendship" (invitations were custom-made "Seeds of Friendship" seed packets sent to women I wanted to know better), "Mother-Daughter Teaparty" for Mother's Day (used butterflies in invitation and custom-made napkin rings), and "Come On Spring!" (handmade invitations using embroidered flower fabric and napkins to match)....

I invited a neighbor to one of the teaparties and she got the word out. A church group in our neighborhood asked me to host an etiquette teaparty for 14 of their 8-10 yr old girls. I polished up on my basic etiquette and thought of ways to make it special for the girls. I made name cards in a fancy calligraphy font and served everything on my fancy china. They had so much fun and many took their name cards home.

Well, as you can see, I love teaparties!
