I'm a recent college grad (Biola University) and substitute teacher seeking to break into the arts and entertainment field, specifically in music and/or comedy (by means of TV/movies). During my time in college, I wrote, directed, produced, and performed in several musical-comedic acts including a boy band ("2 Pluz 1" - www.myspace.com/2pluz1), a biblical metal opera ("The Sons of Anak"), and an Andy Kaufmann-esque sketch at our school's annual lip-sync contest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnEBNflTEmw).
I am presently refining a collection of songs I've written over the past few years which would comprise an autobiographical concept album. Stylistically, there are four main elements: straight-ahead rock/alternative, progressive rock, symphonic/soundtrack (bordering on Disney at times), and strong pop sensibilities. It's fairly unique in this regard. My biggest influences for the project are Yellowcard, Dream Theater, Disney soundtracks, Switchfoot, Thrice, Radiohead, Debussy, and Symphony X. Quite a melting pot, I know! If there is one album which I am most closely modeling it after, it would have to be Yellowcard's "Lights and Sounds".
I'm looking for three kinds of people here:
(1) Guitar students (I give lessons for $20/hr.)
(2) Like-minded musicians to jam with and hopefully form a band - in particular I'm looking for a bassist, keyboardist, and lead guitarist (I already have a drummer I jam with sometimes, but if you play, let me know).
(3) Anyone with connections to the TV/Film industry or any other venue which would be conducive to promoting my comedy. I'm presently co-writing a movie script based on my experiences as a substitute teacher. It should be good. Also, if you think you're funny and would like to collaborate comedically, I'll give you a chance. If I don't think you're funny, though, then you're screwed.
