After completing studies there he came to Boston to enroll at the prestigious Berklee College of Music and graduated in Professional Music.

While in Boston he discovered the study technology of L. Ron Hubbard, which teaches some simple techniques of how to solve the barriers of studying, and decided to incorporate these principles and techniques in a teaching program he created. (More at: http://www.studytechnology.org.)

He is now able to teach music theory in an easy-to-understand format, which doesn’t violate the study laws and this way guaranteeing understanding and results in any student.

He has performed as a guitar and bass player many different styles of popular music, including: swing, rock, funk, pop, latin-jazz, bossa, samba, salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, bolero, ballads, soukous, west-african rhythms from Senegal and Mali, soca, calypso, reggae, jonkonu and the different rhythms from Curacao, like the tumba, sehu, salsa antiyana, etc.

An incomplete roster of groups he has performed with is: Fire, Smoke and Ashes (rock), La Nueva Era (merengue), Supercombo La fuente (cumbia), Souvenir (calypso), Jorge Arce and his group Humano (salsa), The Jazz Trio (swing), The Camelia Group (latin Jazz), Vox Pop (polyphonic poetry), Bala Tounkara (west-african music) and others.

He has recorded with Ramiro Mendez (cape verdian music), Grupo Chévere (merengue and bachata), Rumbafrica (soukous), Sali Oyugi (Kenyan music), Mondo Sweetie (Cuban and Spanish rumba flamenca) and The Three Kings (hip hop).

Description
Camelia Latin Jazz is: a quartet consisting of lead guitar, piano, bass and drums or hand percussion (congas, bongos etc.); or a trio of guitar, piano and drums/percussion; or a duo of guitar, piano and drum machine.

Its founder, Roderick Camelia, a native from Curaçao, Dutch Antilles, is well versed in all Latin and Caribbean styles (merengue, salsa, bossa nova, samba, calypso etc.) as well as an accomplished guitar player. He takes great pride in being a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. All the members are professional musicians who work full time in the music industry.

Camelia Latin Jazz provides instrumental Latin and Caribbean music with jazz improvisation, also known as latin jazz, for all types of private occasions: weddings, award ceremonies, conventions, corporate events, fund raisers, political events, private parties, sales meetings, etc. The group does also public performances: restaurants, barrooms, lounges,

For concerts and festivals, the size is usually increased to a sextet or quintet by adding more percussions.

The group can adjust to any atmosphere by playing as softly or as lively as needed.

The group may decide to use only hand percussions instead of a drum set when space is limited or when very quiet music is requested.
