Changing Graphics is a Los Angeles-based design company specializing in retail artwork and design for print.

Our mission is to produce custom quality graphic designs that will assist businesses as well as individuals communicate their message clearly, creatively and affordably.

As the old adage goes, “image is everything” and image conveys for an organization their message. By providing image concepts that make businesses look credible and professional, Changing Graphics will have successfully been integral in helping attract key demographics for these organizations, allowing them to simply follow through.

Work Experience:
A native of South Los Angeles, Uwimana Waller (or Uwi) is an original graphic artist with a visual inclination to be described as dramatic as well harmonious. Uwi’s innate proclivity to, as one former colleague put it, “make things fit” has allowed her to create graphic works that convey balance, style and clarity; however, she did not always see the value in such ability until later in her formative years.

While attending college at the University of California at Berkeley, Uwimana explored a variety of degree options, including creative writing, filmmaking, journalism and dramatic arts before finally deciding to major in the generic field of American Studies with Emphasis on Popular Culture. “I have always been socially observant and able to see the irony in life,” says Uwimana, “and as a product of ‘80s MTV & Hip Hop, my way of expressing what I see has been through some form of art – be it poetry, acting, singing, dance, whatever.”

It was not until after graduating college and landing an Executive Assistant position in 2001 at the National Community Development Institute (NCDI) in Oakland, CA where she discovered a new form of expression through graphic art design when she envisioned the company’s logo. “I didn’t know how to create it, but this image kept nagging at me. So I had my husband lay it out for me in Photoshop and it was the most exhilarating thing to see that image digitally come to life.” It was then when Uwimana submersed herself into learning the popular graphics editing program Photoshop and layout program Quark Xpress.

As a result of her creativity and aptitude for picking up new skills fast, Uwi found herself holding two additional titles at NCDI: Technical Support Person and Marketing Coordinator. As Marketing Coordinator, her chief responsibilities included creating the organization’s corporate identity and spearheading all marketing campaigns set forth by the company.
