Field Technician - Archaeology

Participates in basic archaeological field surveys and excavation projects. Records data and prepares field records (e.g. site maps, photographs, feature forms, field notes, etc.). Performs careful recovery of samples in the field, using standard archaeological methods and techniques. Identifies and evaluates artifacts found in survey and excavation. Processes specimens recovered in the field. Performs analysis in the lab through identification, labeling, and preparation for curation. Maintains related forms, maps, and files. Performs data entry related to archaeological artifact and project data, appropriate forms, and archival records (e.g. artifact information, catalog records, field notes, maps, site records, etc.) into automated systems. Retrieves and compiles data as required.
