C. Kathleen Summers

From the wilds of rural Indiana come dragons, unicorns, pegasus and fauns, bag ladies and homeless old men and hungry eyed children, raccoons with hair dryers, cows in rain slickers, and pigs in picture hats. All spring from the hands and heart of me, Kathleen Summers.
I share a house in Shelby County with my beloved, Marty, my beautiful artist daughter and her beloved, my grandson and a multitude of cats.
I have loved sculpting ever since my Play-Doh days. I got away from it somewhat during my teens and 20's but rediscovered its joys while working in a porcelain doll shop/teaching studio here in Indianapolis.
I have been diagnosed with a debilitating neuromuscular disease and I also have rotten knees both of which restricts my mobility. So I sold the kiln and became a polyclay junkie. Now, small fantasy creatures, most no taller than three inches, fashioned from polymer clay help to satisfy my creative urges.
Although I am restricted to a wheelchair for outings away from home I do enjoy showing my One-Of-A-Kind figurative sculptures at regional science fiction/fantasy convention art shows and local art/craft exhibitions. I have sold my work through e-Bay, and through private sales and commissions.
I have led well-attended workshops educating and familiarizing people with polymer clay and basic critter construction.
I have a loyal following not only here in the US but also internationally. I have won numerous awards, including a First Place Blue Ribbon at the Indiana State Fair, the first and only time I participated. I also received The President's Award as well as Best of Show in mixed media from the Knauf Christmas Art Competition several years running.

More About Me
Way too many to list but a few are the usual culprits, reading, music, art
Work Experience:
What have I done with my life? hmmm. Well, not nearly as much as I thought I would when I was fresh and green and oh so young.
I've done the important things though. I've loved and been loved. I've given laughter and received it back. I've eased sorrow and in my turn gotten ease. All the good stuff sonnets are made of.
I am always studying to improve my skill set, from learning new techniques to increasing my knowledge of anatomy. I have had no formal art training but am a graduate of Lockyear Business College and I attended Indiana State University.
