Shermine Sawalha was born and raised in Amman, Jordan and moved to
Montreal at the age of 18 to redefine her self and her works in both
the visual and performance arts. Her dedication and devotion to her
own artistic expression led to her graduation with three degrees in
Fine Arts at Concordia University. A BFA in Computational Arts, BFA in
Contemporary Dance and Graduate Certificate in Digital Technologies in
Design Art Practice.

Her interest in physical movement, space, audience performer relation,
and the body, has helped her visualize, direct and create multimedia
and performance works. Some of her latest works concentrate on her
research in constructing responsive environments, and playing with the
idea of the body as a technology to research and create movement and
adaptations of movement.

Shermine is also founder and creative director of Montreal Art House:
Ctrllab Gallery. A home for local, national, and international visual
and performance artists to collaborate, create and express their works
and ideas.
