Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist Trainer
The Liddle Kidz™ Foundation Pediatric Massage Certification course is for those interested in becoming a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT). A CPMT is a massage therapist, or other health care professional, who has received specific advanced training to enhance their skills in providing pediatric massage therapy. During this course, the healthcare professional receives specific advanced training to adapt massage and touch therapy for pediatric clients, including children with special health care needs, children who are hospitalized or have been diagnosed with a terminal illness in hospice care.
A CPMT will acquire the knowledge of various massage techniques for working with children with varied physical, developmental, emotional and mental challenges and has practiced these skills during hands-on in class sessions. During the course we will review the many benefits and importance of individualized adaptations, including cultural considerations, for using massage therapy with children.
Additionally, during the CPMT course, we review respectful approach, meeting children at their level and respect for their personal space. We also cover respectful, mindful considerations, unique communication skills to expand interaction and how to engage children during massage sessions.
Due to the sensitive nature of providing massage therapy for children in healthcare settings, CPMT’s will be taught the great importance of professional boundaries, safety guidelines, infection control and patient privacy.
Participants in this course must be certified and/or licensed to touch prior to attending. This course is not a stand-alone certification to provide touch therapy for pediatric clients.
