Hank Groves is originally from Hilton Head Island, SC. He has been playing competitive 2 man beach volleyball for over 18 years. He attended Spartanburg Methodist JC (Spartanburg, SC) where he was a two-time letterman in soccer. His passion for volleyball was realized while attending Winthrop University(Rock Hill, SC) where he attended the sand volleyball courts more than class! He has traveled all over the East
Coast playing in the Jose Cuervo, Bud Light, Toyota, and East End volleyball circuits. He has lived in San Diego for over 9 years now, consistently playing at the AA level. He is currently rated "AAA" and ranked in the Top 70 Players for the California Beach
Volleyball Association. (www.cbva.com) Hank also has two years of women's indoor high school volleyball coaching experience, taking both teams to the playoffs. He has played in two AVP qualifiers in 2005, posting a 1-2 record. Hank has won the Mission "A", ('02, '04) West Coast Beach Volleyball "A" ('07), "AA"('07), "OPEN" ('07), Mexican International Beach Volleyball Tournament ('07),(www.esterobeach.com) The "YULE FEST" ('09), SD BIG King of the Beach ('10), and the California Cup State Championship AA ('10). He currently trains potential AVP professionals and beginners here in San Diego, CA, and is the instructor for the Vavi Sport & Social Club's beginner beach and indoor volleyball classes. Beach Volleyball 101 is hands on volleyball training. We are with you every step of the way,
taking time for the individual player, as well as the team. Although the main focus will be on 2
man, individual skills can also be stressed in full detail. You will learn all skills, and play both
sides of the court. Our philosophy on beach volleyball is: Bump, Set, Spike in an aggressive
manner. NO FREE BALLS!!!
