Christopher Mees, native of Cody, Wyoming is a recent graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he majored in jazz bass performance studying under Peter Dominguez. Christopher is an active performer and has played in many New York City clubs and venues including Smalls, Birdland, Minton’s Playhouse, The Lenox Lounge, Sweet Rhythm, The Jazz Gallery, The Bar Next Door, and The Rubin Museum of Art. He also performs frequently in Cleveland at the Bopstop and Nighttown. Christopher has performed with many great artists including Billy Hart, Jimmy Cobb, Marcus Belgrave, and Geri Allen.
Christopher has recorded with Oberlin graduate, Theo Croker on is debut album, "The Fundamentals" and recently finished recording Oberlin graduate, Arnold Lee's latest project which is soon to be released. While at Oberlin, Christopher participated in many master classes including Trio 3, Joe Lovano, and Vijay Iyer. Christopher also studied with Oberlin professors Dan Wall, Billy Hart, Jamey Haddad, and Paul Samuels. Former teachers of his include Eddie Gomez, Robert Magnusson, Bertram Turetzky, and John Clayton.
Christopher is currently living in New York City pursuing a career performing, studying different genres of music, and composing while constantly striving to find new directions and connections in music.
