Meghan Williams Elkins-Soprano
Meghan is a classically trained musician in voice and piano. Meghan hails from St. Louis Park, MN. Meghan received a music scholarship after performing a concert at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, MN and went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Acting emphasis with a Music Minor at UMD. After graduating, Meghan performed in numerous roles in various theatres throughout the Minneapolis area and has also been seen on the stage of The Guthrie Theatre. During this time, Meghan went on to study opera and voice at MacPhail, Center for the Arts as an Honors Student. After moving to Maryland in 2001, Meghan performed in various operas with The Victorian Lyric Opera Company (1st Lady in Magic Flute, Pirates of Penzance, La Vie Parisienne-where Meghan met her husband, Les Elkins) and The American Center for Puccini Studies (La Boheme, Suor Angelica, Il Tabarro). In 2007, Meghan joined the Washington Balalaika Society where she has been a featured vocalist along with becoming a fledgling domrist, where Meghan has sung in well-known local venues such as The Kennedy Center, The Barns at Wolf Trap, Annual Russian Festival. Meghan was invited to join a new upcoming orchestra in 2008, The Hot Society of Washington, as a lead vocalist and performs at Glen Echo and is a regular at the French Embassy. Meghan continues to make many concert appearances throughout the DC Metro Region. When not performing various operas, theatre and concerts, Meghan can be found teaching voice and piano with her company, The Piano Studio, Inc.
