United Saints, a three-year-old post Katrina grassroots recovery organization that assists residents with no, or limited resources to rebuild/restore their properties & community. Our organization is currently developing a ‘Community Arts Project’ which will facilitate the creation and execution of twenty murals across the city, beginning in 2011. Our goal is to create inspirational public art by involving national, international and local artists and volunteers, all working to create and articulate the vision of each mural. It will teach volunteers and youth the basics of mural painting, as well as offer local artist's a public canvas' to display their work for the community to enjoy. The Community Arts Project also collaborates with local art collectives to increase range and impact in the community. Our project addresses the concerns of, and offers a solution to temporary unemployment, blighted houses, and at-risk youth located around central city. They will cast strong unified messages and also help to brighten neighborhoods.
Please Join us on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 from 5-8pm For our first annual Community Arts Fundraiser. Help us celebrate community involvement and the creation of public art.
